Emergency Info

True orthodontic emergencies are rare. We typically classify an emergency as anything that the patient feels is causing extreme pain or is impairing them from eating. If either of these circumstances pertain to you, please contact our office and you will be seen promptly.

Most problems that occur during your treatment can be easily remedied without an emergency visit to our office. These will be scheduled at our next available opening. In the meantime:

  • If a tie wire is irritating your mouth, cover it with orthodontic wax or tuck it under the archwire using a blunt object like a pencil eraser or a Q-tip.
  • A loose band or bracket can generally be left in place until we can get you in to repair it.

Should your situation require our attention please contact us as soon as possible. If your emergency occurs outside of office hours, we have a group of orthodontists on-call at all times to treat our patients.
